At NRCC, the thing we want most for our children is that when they grow up and walk away from their time with us, they know that they are loved by God. Our thought is that if our children have a deep internal sense of God’s approval, acceptance, and affection, they’ll be set up for a lifetime of spiritual hunger. Teaching our children content comes second. Our primary concern is to create an environment in which they have deep, visceral experiences of affection, goodness, mercy, love and fun – the things we believe to be at the heart of God.
Consequently, we’ve worked hard to make our children’s ministry emotionally safe, physically safe, and spiritually safe. We help our children form loving relationships with one another, with their teachers and counselors, and with people of our larger community.
And we make sure church is fun.
Again, we want to create deep, primal impressions in them that will set the course of their lives. For children, if their impression of church, God, and spiritual pursuit are associated with fun, this too sets them up for a lifetime quest for God.

Theresa Luke heads a group of teachers and counselors who care for our children each Sunday and through the week. With stories, songs, visual images, games, and activities, they teach our kids to look for the God-Wind as it blows through their lives. They help our children discover their own unique talents and gifts, and create opportunities for them to contribute their gifts to others.
Above all, Theresa and her team leads our children to listen for the Inner Voice of the Divine, to heed that Voice, and to walk the path of Light and Life God sets before us.
