As an adult at NRCC…
You will be invited to explore your inner being. In our experience, awareness of, and sensitivity to the Inner Voice is one of the primary elements of a spiritual life. We teach our children that “Jesus is in our hearts.” At NRCC, you will be invited to expand that simple truth into practices that awaken your interior spirituality.
As an adult at NRCC…
You will find an environment less about making sure you believe the right stuff, and more about belonging to a diverse spiritual community. We are indeed orthodox Christians, but in our practice, we deemphasize creed or dogma, and are instead trying to find our place in this great God-Story unfolding around us.
As an adult at NRCC…
You will be invited to belong. It doesn’t matter where you are on the spiritual journey, how seasoned or new you are to faith, how much you have it together or don’t. We will invite you to belong with us.
Belonging best happens when we become friends, so our hope is that you will find friendship here; spiritual, close, and perhaps even life-long friendships. However, we know that friendships aren’t something that can be manufactured. They’re more like trees or flowers; they grow of their own accord. We can put seeds into sun-drenched soil, we can add water, but we can’t make them grow.
So, at NRCC, we try to create spaces in which people can find a way of belonging that is comfortable for them. If you are comfortable belonging in a public sense, we invite you to come on Sunday mornings, to listen, to observe, and to be one of us. If you want to belong in a more social way, we invite you to have breakfast with us each Sunday and an occasional lunch after church. We hope that over a meal, familiarity will grow and you will find friends.
If you want to belong in an even more intentional way, we’d love you to join us in one of our many groups, where we focus on sharing the spiritual journey. We practice Christian meditation together, we do book clubs, we consider scripture together, we ask after one another’s lives and we pray for one another.
Also, twice a year we invite people to form breathing groups, small groupings of people to intentionally pursuing deep spiritual friendships.
We’d love you to join us on the spiritual journey.
